4-H camp

I went to 4-H camp on Monday, it was great! I stayed in a cabin with 8 other girls and a counselor. There was archery, riflery, disk golf, swimming and canoeing, which was awesome. They had a talent show, witch I didn't take part in, but there where some really cool talents. My group's counselor was a ton of fun, all the girls where nice. We walked everywhere, when I got home Thursday morning I was exhausted. I plan to go again next year, and when I'm old enough I might go as a counselor.

Book review: Uglies

I recently began the Uglies trilogy By Scott Westerfield. Uglies takes place in the future where at the age of of 16 you get an operation to make you beautiful and you get to move to a place called new Prettie Town where you party all night and sleep all day. Before you get the operation you live Uglieville and are called an Uglie.

Uglies is about an almost 16 year old girl named Tally Youngblood whose friends are all pretty and she can't wait to become pretty until she meets a girl named Shay who's thinking about running away to a place called the Smoke before she has to get the operation. The Smoke is where all the Uglies who don't want the operation run away to.

Shay asks Tally to go to the Smoke with her but Tally decides to stay and get the operation. So Shay runs away leaving instructions for Tally if she decides to run away. Tally goes to get the operation, but before she can Special Circumstances (the secret police) take her to their headquarters and tell her that unless she takes a tracker with her, goes to the smoke and tells Special Circumstances where the Smoke is, she can't get the operation.

I would recommend this book. There are 3 more books, 2 of which I have read. The 3rd as far as I can tell is not about Tally.

Book Review: Inkspell by Cornelia Funke

Inkspell is the second book in the Inkheart trilogy, the first book was Inkheart. Inkspell is about the same characters just one year later. I really like the story. It would be hard to tell the story to you because you didn't read the first one. The 3rd book hasn't come out in English yet. I would recommend this trilogy. Something I think is interesting about these books is they are written in German and translated into English.

K is being Luke Skywalker. I will post pics of us in our costumes later.

M started read the Harry Potter series earlier this year and started the 7th recently! Of course she went to back and read the 19 years later chapter first. She is now on chapter 5. She has read the first 6 books all by her self. I know she is planning to do the same for the 7th.

A new dog!

She and Naisey get along OK sometimes, but most of the time they don't. Once they get to know each other it should be ok. The cat kinda freaked out when she saw the new dog and she still prefers watching the dog from above or from a distance instead of being next to her. We Named her Nancy.

Movie review: Happy Feet

This movie is cute and funny. It is about a penguin named Mumble who when he's happy he dances, and he is outcast by his group because the older Penguins think that he is offending the great 'gwean (The Penguin god) by dancing so the great 'gwean is casing the fish shortage. So he has to find out were the fish are. It is a good movie I recommend it for kids and adults.


M's 9th birthday

She is 9! We brought cupcakes to and went swimming at a friend's house yesterday then we gave her presents that night, we all had fun. I will let her blog about what we gave her.

Book review

On the way to our grandparents house I read Following My Own Footsteps by Mary Downing Hahn. It is the sequel to Stepping on the Cracks, a book we read for book club a while ago that I liked. I would recommend Following My Own Footsteps but to be clear on the story you shold read Stepping on the Cracks first.

We rented the first Lord of the Rings movie recently and we all really enjoyed it. I want to get the next one soon.

Theater Camp

I went to theater camp last week. It was fun. We did a play called The Great Kapok Tree. We made the set and costumes. I was one of the narrators.

4-H Dog Show

Naisey did good! We both got tired after three and a half hours! But it was fun.

4-H Fair

I entered 2 Pictures (That's all you can take) one was computer manipulated which I got a champion because no one else does computer manipulated and the other one was two Swans. I also took a Scrapbook, Yogurt Breakfast Bread and Butterscotch Cookies, it was funny when the judge tasted the cookies she rolled her eyes and said "Oh these are good, you can't go by with out tasting these" and she meade her assistants try some!

Two days 759 pages

I just finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I kept having to wake myself up last night or I would have tried to finish it. Not that it is a snooze! I was tired after the dog show yesterday. And I agree with my Mom there were some really funny parts.

The Harry Potter party

Was good, The Sweet Granada had all kinds chocolate! Dementor's Chocolate (Big chunks in a Little bag), Chocolate Bugs, Chocolate Frogs, Chocolate Rats, some others and then they had Blood Lollipops (They had a trvia game and we got blue ones) , Chocolate Owl Lollipops, Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, and something else that turned out to be Pop Rocks. They also had fresh squeezed lemonade, I had the things highlighted in red. And there were prize drawings. My friend won and got a Harry Potter hat, a Hagrid figurine, a box of every flavor beans and Dumbledore's wand.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie

I think they left out some important stuff, they didn't mention Sirius's brother which I think is going to be important in the last movie, but they might still come up with a way to put that into the story if it's important in the books. They also left out Ron getting on the Quidditch team which is something that he gets on in the 6th book too, so I don't know of they are going to ignore Quidditch in the 6th movie too or what.

I was kind of disappointed in the movie.
